Travel Tip - Check Baggage Sizes and Weight Limits

We all have seen the videos and stories of travellers getting stopped at boarding the plane because their hand luggage is too big and they have to pay extra to get on the flight.

To avoid this happening to you here are some tips:

Check The Airline’s Baggage Policy
It’s best to go to the airline’s official website, don’t rely on past experience or assumptions as airlines change their sizes and limits, and every airline have different requirements just to make it more difficult for passengers!

Weigh and Measure Your Bag At Home
Ensure to use a luggage scale to check the weight of your luggage, there are strap based scales that you can carry with you, so you can check before your return trip. Also measure your luggage, especially the under seat and overhead locker luggage as the airlines do like to check that these fit properly.

Pack Smart and Light
To help reduce fees make sure to pack only what you really need, you can save a lot on flight costs by simply using cabin luggage instead of hold luggage. It might be worthwhile wearing the heaviest shoes and layers during the flight to save the weight in the hold/cabin luggage.

Upgrade If You Need More
If you can’t cope with just cabin luggage, or one piece of hold luggage, it might be worthwhile paying for an extra piece of luggage before your flight as it could be cheaper than paying fee at the airport.

Ryanair = Under seat - 40cm x 30cm x 20cm // Overhead locker - 55cm x 40cm x 20cm 10kg

EasyJet = Under seat - 45cm x 36cm x 20cm // Overhead locker - 56cm x 45cm x 25cm 15kg

Jet2 = Under seat - 40cm x 30cm x 20cm // Overhead locker - 56cm x 45cm x 25cm 10kg

TUI = Under seat - 40cm x 30cm x 20cm // Overhead locker - 55cm x 40cm x 20cm 10kg
