Travel Tip - Check Baggage Sizes and Weight Limits Before Travelling

Have you seen the videos and stories of travellers getting stopped at boarding the plane because their hand luggage is too big and they have to pay extra to get on the flight. To avoid this happening to you here are some tips.

Check Your Airline’s Baggage Policy Before You Pack It’s best to go to their official website, don’t rely on past experience or assumptions as airlines change their sizes and limits and every airlines have different requirements just to make it more difficult for passengers!

Weigh & Measure Your Bag at Home

It is best to use a luggage scale to check the weight of your luggage, there are strap based scales that you can carry with you so you can check before your return trip. Also measure your luggage, especially the under seat and cabin luggage as the airlines do like to check that these fit properly.

Pack Smart & Light

To help reduce fees make sure to pack only what you really need. Hey, I am guilty of overpacking but you can save a lot on flight costs by simply using cabin luggage instead of hold luggage. It might be worthwhile wearing the heaviest shoes and layers during the travel so save the weight in the luggage.

Upgrade If You Need More

If you can’t cope with just cabin luggage or one piece of hold luggage, it might be worthwhile paying for an extra piece of luggage before your flight as it could be cheaper than paying for a fee at the airport.

EasyJet Cabin Luggage - Under seat bag = 45 x 36 x 20cm / Cabin bag = 56 x 45 x 25cm 15kg

Jet2 Cabin Luggage - Under seat bag = 40 x 30 x 15cm / Cabin bag = 56 x 45 x 25cm 10kg

TUI Cabin Luggage - Under seat bag = 40 x 30 x 20cm / Cabin bag = 55 x 40 x 20cm 10kg
