Enter a city where ancient history meets modern delights. York, nestled in the heart of North Yorkshire, is the ideal escape for a UK city break – bursting with character, culture, and charm.

It’s one of my favourite places to visit and luckily it’s not far from where I am in Leeds, so I can get there whenever I like to have a day or weekend in this pretty, historical city.

You can wander through the cobbled streets of The Shambles, with it’s markets, eateries and small intimate shops, you certainly step back in time on these streets. Then venture over the majestic York Minster, one of the largest Gothic cathedrals in Northern Europe. Or you can take in a walk along the historic city walls and feel the city’s Roman and Viking past.
